In a course called “Filmproject Development” we were tasked with coming up with our own stories for a series or film. In addition, we were supposed to make a storyboard for a specific scene from the story.
I called my story “Order of Ascendence”.
It’s set in a medieval-fantasy world, where troubled souls can’t pass on to the afterlife by themselves after dying.
For these souls, there is an order of gravediggers, that travel the world to help and understand the people who can’t pass on. A young woman called Baldony is one of these gravediggers. Traveling by herself, she comes across a small village, where the ghost of a dead baker, Oswald, still roams around looking for his bodily remains.
After being murdered, his remains were hidden by his murderer. He cannot pass on, because of a promise that he made to his late wife:
To be buried next to her.
Baldony collects his remains and take care of the burial. Therefore allowing Oswald to pass on and ridding the village of an evil presence that lingered there, due to all of Oswalds negative emotions.

Gravediggers like Baldony are trained from a young age to become a part of the order by their masters.
It is a sacred ritual for a gravedigger-student to bury their master after their death. Sadly, Baldonys master died mysteriously after dissappearing. Only his skull remained.
Baldony travels on, trying to help her master pass on, but to no avail just yet.
During her travels she meets a travelling musician, Zander, who is looking for a greater purpose in life.
Baldony requires his assistance for a burial and they work together. Believing he could contribute to her work, he follows her on her travels.
Together they help pass on more souls, whilst trying to figure out the mysterious circumstances surrounding Baldony’s masters death.
But that is not the only thing on the gravediggers mind:
Souls that linger to long in the realm of the living mutate into evil spirits, terrorizing humans. It is also a gravediggers duty to help these spirits, but they only seem to be growing stronger and more powerful, as their journes progresses…
